6-Day Breathwork Teacher Training in Ubud
Classical pranayama and modern somatic breathwork, taught over six days in the rice fields of Peliatan. YACEP-accredited. No prior experience required.
A six-day, 35-hour breathwork teacher training in Ubud, Bali — bridging classical Himalayan pranayama with modern somatic breathing techniques. You will study eight classical pranayamas, Swara Yoga methods, and five distinct breathwork modalities, guided by a practitioner with fifteen years of teaching across India, Nepal, and Bali.
The course is accredited as a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education (YACEP) program. No prior breathwork experience is required — the training is structured for both personal deepening and professional expansion. You leave with a certificate, a broadened teaching toolkit, and a lived understanding of the breath's effect on the nervous system.
The Training Experience
This training is built around a single premise: that understanding the breath means understanding the nervous system, and learning to guide others through breathwork requires first doing the work yourself. The curriculum moves between two registers — the precision of classical Vedic pranayama and the felt, somatic territory of modern breathwork — so that by the end of the week you can teach from both lineage and lived experience.
Mornings and afternoons are structured around daily guided practice, theoretical study, and active breathing meditation. You will move through traditional Himalayan pranayama techniques — the kind passed down through disciplined, repetitive practice — and then into somatic breathwork sessions oriented toward emotional release and nervous system regulation. The thread connecting them is the relationship between breath, brain, and body: how specific breathing patterns shift states, and what that means for someone in your care.
The training is intensive but not performative. Sarvottam Ji's teaching style is direct and grounded in fifteen years of working with students across different cultures and experience levels. Personal guidance is available as you navigate your own responses to the practices — the training asks you to go inward, but it does not leave you there unsupported.
The setting helps. Bali Yoga Center sits in Peliatan, a quieter pocket of Ubud surrounded by rice fields and garden space. The shala is air-conditioned, the meals are vegetarian and locally sourced, and the pace of the week is designed to let the practices settle rather than stack on top of each other.
You do not need prior breathwork training to join. What the course does require is a willingness to engage seriously with the material — both as a student and as a future teacher.
Program
The 35-hour curriculum is delivered across six days at Bali Yoga Center. Check-in is at 2pm on the first day; check-out is at 1pm on the last.
The program covers three core areas:
- Classical pranayama — eight traditional techniques rooted in Vedic and Himalayan lineages, studied through daily guided practice and theoretical instruction.
- Swara Yoga — the yogic science of breath cycles and nasal dominance, with practical application for teaching and personal practice.
- Modern somatic breathwork — five distinct contemporary techniques oriented toward emotional release, nervous system regulation, and stress physiology.
Each day includes a combination of active breathing practice, meditation, and classroom study. The schedule is structured to build progressively — earlier sessions establish foundations that later sessions develop and integrate.
The training concludes with a certification assessment for the YACEP credential.
What you take home
- A YACEP-certified credential — Yoga Alliance Continuing Education accreditation, recognised internationally, to add breathwork to your teaching scope.
- Eight classical pranayama techniques — traditional Himalayan practices you can integrate into yoga classes or teach as standalone sessions.
- Five modern breathwork modalities — somatic techniques for nervous system regulation, stress release, and emotional processing.
- Swara Yoga methods — an understanding of breath cycles and nasal dominance applicable to both personal practice and student guidance.
- A working knowledge of breath physiology — how specific breathing patterns affect the brain, nervous system, and stress response.
- Experience holding space — guided practice in facilitating breathwork for others, not just receiving it.
