13-Day 100-Hour Yin Yoga & Sound Healing Teacher Training in Ubud, Bali
Learn to weave live sound into yin yoga — and teach the combination — over thirteen days in Ubud's rice fields.
100-Hour Yoga Teacher Training
A 13-day, 100-hour residential training that teaches you to weave sound healing into yin yoga — and to teach the combination as a single therapeutic practice. You study yin foundations (poses, meridians, sequencing, functional anatomy), sound theory (brainwaves, solfeggio frequencies, the nervous system), and the hands-on craft of playing singing bowls and gongs with live guest musicians.
The course is set at Suly Center in Ubud, surrounded by rice fields and temple gardens. Weekdays are full immersion; weekends are free for self-study and exploring Bali. You leave with a Yoga Alliance-affiliated 100-hour certificate (applicable toward RYT-300 or continuing education credits) and a 100-hour Yin Yoga Therapy™ practitioner diploma.
Suitable for yoga teachers adding sound to their classes, and for practitioners with a serious interest in teaching — no prior sound healing experience required.
The Training Experience
This is a training first, and the schedule reflects it. Mornings open with sunrise sadhana and a nature meditation, followed by a guided yang practice to balance the yin-heavy afternoons. After breakfast, two theory blocks and a methodology session carry you to lunch — skeletal variation, compression versus tension, the Taoist meridian map, the mechanics of sound on the nervous system. The long midday break is yours: swim in the pool, read in the garden, nap.
Late afternoons are where the two practices meet. You hold yin poses for extended counts while singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, chimes, handpan and didgeridoo fill the shala — sometimes played by guest musicians like gong master Irina Di or sound artist Sanj Hall, sometimes played by you. The sound isn't background; it's the curriculum. You learn why a bowl held near the body feels different from one placed on it, how cymatics demonstrates vibration's effect on matter, and how to sequence a class where the sound arc mirrors the energetic arc of the poses.
Sunset circles close the practice day. Occasional kirtans and bhajans introduce the devotional side of sound — mantras, call-and-response, the communal voice. One cacao ceremony is woven into the schedule alongside transformation circles, which are the container for the personal work that tends to surface when you spend thirteen days in stillness and vibration.
The teaching practice is embodied, not theoretical. You teach to your cohort, receive feedback, and refine. The aim is that you can design and lead a Yin & Sound session on your own by graduation — with the anatomical reasoning, the energetic framework, and the instrumental skill to back it up.
Weekends are unstructured. No meals are provided on Saturdays and Sundays, which is when Ubud's markets, galleries and rice terrace walks earn their place in the week.

Therapeutic yin — Yin/yang balance and chi, Dan Tien healing breath, singing bowl activation of the Dan Tiens, meridian activation within poses, mindfulness integration.
Anatomy and movement mechanics — Theory of exercise and mobility, individual skeletal variation, compression versus tension, yin tissue and the physical benefits of the practice.
Sound theory — Nervous system and vagal nerve responses to sound, cellular responses, brainwave states (beta to delta), solfeggio frequencies, cymatics, history of sound in yoga and shamanic lineages, responsible use of terminology.
Singing bowls (hands-on) — Types of bowls, wands and beaters, playing techniques (fingers, hands, wands, beaters, tapping, rim-playing), working with bowls on and off the body, water charging, contraindications, care, storage and cleansing.

Certification
On successful completion you receive:
- A Yoga Alliance-affiliated 100-hour certificate (RYS 300), applicable toward the 300-hour Yoga Alliance certification or as continuing education credits.

- Sequence yin classes around the meridian system — sequences mapped to each Taoist element, grounded in functional anatomy and skeletal variation.
- Understand sound's effect on the nervous system — theory covering brainwave shifts, vagal tone, and cellular vibration, not just tradition.
- Hold space for group sound healing — experienced through sessions with guest musicians using bowls, gongs, tuning forks, chimes, handpan and didgeridoo.
- Leave with two credentials — Yoga Alliance-affiliated 100-hour certificate and 100-hour Yin Yoga Therapy™ diploma.

Location
The training is held in Ubud, in Bali's central foothills — the island's longstanding art and medicinal-herb centre, surrounded by terraced rice fields.
Suly Center sits among the rice paddies, a short distance from Ubud's galleries, museums, clinics and restaurants. The Monkey Forest and its ravine freshwater springs are roughly a 10-minute drive away. Ngurah Rai International Airport is approximately an hour's drive.
About the venue
Suly Center is a spiritual gathering space with a long history of hosting retreats and ceremonies. The grounds include a large yoga hall, a temple shala, a paddy deck for practice overlooking the rice fields, a meditation pyramid, a swimming pool, and a tropical garden with small temples throughout.
Dining is at the on-site vegetarian restaurant at the front of the property, or at the more private garden dining area. The centre is gated and quiet, but steps from the main road into local Ubud life.
About the organizer
Alexandra Denkinger
The school is a registered yoga school (RYS 200 & 300) with Yoga Alliance, operating across venues in India, Bali, the Maldives and Europe. Its teaching philosophy centres breath, meditation and intuition rather than ritual or rigid alignment — the aim is that every student develops their own teaching presence and style, rather than replicating a single method.
The Yin Yoga Therapy™ diploma program extends to 700 hours of modular training, built on the clinical physical therapy practice of Alexandra Denkinger.
Highlights
- Thirteen days in Ubud's rice fields — weekdays of deep study, weekends free to walk the terraces and the Monkey Forest ravine.
- Yin poses held to live gong, singing bowls, handpan and didgeridoo — played by guest musicians and, by the end, by you.
- Functional anatomy and meridian theory in the morning; sound science — brainwaves, cymatics, the vagus nerve — in the afternoon.
- Practice teaching to your cohort daily, with feedback, so you graduate ready to lead a Yin & Sound class on your own.
- Sunset circles, a cacao ceremony, and occasional kirtans to close the days.
The shala quiets, the bowls ring out across the paddy fields, and the practice becomes something you can carry home and teach.
