A six-day residential retreat blending daily yoga, meditation, and immersive Balinese cultural activities. Set in a village surrounded by rice paddies with mountain views, the program pairs twice-daily practice with hands-on experiences — making Hindu offerings, learning ceremonial dance, visiting waterfalls, and cooking with a private chef.

Universe Retreats' first Bali location is designed for beginners and intermediate practitioners who want structure, culture, and time away from city pace. The days are full but unhurried: mornings open with yoga and an activity, afternoons offer a second practice followed by village excursions or quiet time by the pool.

The Retreat Experience

The rhythm here is steady and full. Each day holds two yoga sessions — one at eight in the morning, another at four in the afternoon — with a Balinese cultural activity slotted between them. Mornings might begin with sun salutations and end with you learning to make a traditional Hindu offering. Afternoons move between village treks, rice-farm walks, and extra meditation sessions.

The cultural programming is woven in, not bolted on. You will make coconut oil, learn ceremonial dance, cook your own lunch one day, and — on Saturdays — join a village clean-up. Wednesday and Saturday mornings shift to the beach when the weather allows, with departure after breakfast for yoga and time by the sea.

Between sessions, the retreat slows down. The pool is open, the bungalows are quiet, and the rice paddies are right outside. The food is vegan and vegetarian, cooked on-site by a private chef who works with whole ingredients, fresh fruit, and vegetables. Water, tea, and coffee run through the day.

The teaching leans on presence rather than intensity. Swandewi brings a decade of Balinese Watukaru Yoga alongside modern styles, guiding from a calm and non-judgmental place. Nyoman's teaching draws from Hatha and Yin, rooted in a long engagement with contemplative traditions.

This is a retreat for people who want to be doing something most of the day — practising, learning, walking, eating together — and who still want time to themselves when the schedule opens up.
