7-Day Solo Travelers Yoga & Balinese Culture Retreat in Ubud
Daily yoga, hands-on Balinese workshops, and a full group of fellow solo travellers arriving together on Sunday.
A 7-day community retreat near Ubud for solo travellers, built around daily yoga, Balinese culture, and shared meals. The week runs Sunday to Saturday with a full group arrival, so most guests come alone and meet everyone on day one.
Set in rice paddies a 25-minute walk from Ubud's main street, Firefly Retreat blends sunrise and sunset yoga with hands-on workshops — jamu-making, cooking classes, canang offerings, and chocolate making — plus a Balinese cultural excursion or a sound healing session at the Pyramids of Chi.
Accommodation, three plant-based meals a day, and all listed activities are included. The vibe is laid-back and social, not a silent ashram or a luxury resort.
The Retreat Experience
Everyone arrives on Sunday afternoon, checks in, and gathers for introductions before the week begins. That shared start is the point — most guests book alone, and by Monday morning you already know the people you'll be practising, cooking, and exploring with.
Mornings typically open with sunrise yoga on the shala, rotating through hatha, vinyasa, yin, and yoga nidra across the week. Sunset sessions close the day with slower practices and meditation. Between them, the schedule fills with workshops that go beyond the mat: learning to make traditional canang offerings, grinding roots and bark for jamu — a Balinese herbal tonic — tasting local herbal remedies, and cooking a jackfruit curry you then eat for lunch.
One day is given over to a Balinese cultural excursion or a 90-minute sound healing at the Pyramids of Chi, chosen week by week based on local ceremonies. Excursion days may include a traditional school visit, Barong dance, temple blessing with a holy bracelet, rice field walk, and hands-on activities like making satay, coconut oil, and natural Balinese coffee.
The kitchen serves plant-based food throughout — buffet breakfast, and a choice from the menu at lunch and dinner, with a daily coconut and unlimited Balinese coffee and herbal tea. The retreat is not silent, not rigid, and not high-end: it is budget-friendly, communal, and designed for people who want structure without formality.
Free time slots are built into most days. Walk the rice paddies, sit by the pool, or head into Ubud — it is a 25-minute walk or short ride away.
